Land of the Settlers

Ameinu (“Our People”) is a US-based  progressive Zionist organisation engaged in various kinds of political and grassroots activism in Israel and America. Established in 2004 as the successor to the Labour Zionist Alliance, the organisation works to build support within America’s Jewish community for a negotiated two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict and provides financial backing for a variety of organisations working towards equality and social justice in Israel, including NISPED (the Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development), which addresses economic development and cooperation between Arab and Jewish Israelis and between Israelis and Palestinians, and Yedid: The Association for Community Empowerment, which runs self-empowerment centers in towns and cities throughout the country to aid the weakest elements of Israeli society.

Ameinu’s latest project is a video initiative about the West Bank settlements, released as part of a larger information campaign highlighting some of the major obstacles to the ongoing peace process. Focusing on the Jewish settlers, Israeli soldiers and Palestinians struggling over the city of Hebron, this clip, the first of four video trailers, is taken from Israeli news anchor Chaim Yavin’s 2005 documentary series The Land of the Settlers.
